The purpose of homework is to support learning in the classroom and to help children develop into effective independent learners.

For pupils in the Upper School (Years 3, 4 and 5) homework is set three nights of the week, plus one day per week assigned as a dedicated reading evening to encourage children to read regularly, widely and respond to texts. In Year 6 homework is assigned four nights per week, with reading encouraged daily (once the homework has been completed). We do not provide weekend or holiday homework other than at certain times in Years 5 and 6. Children in the Upper School have the option to complete their homework at Junior and Senior Prep after school.

For our Lower School pupils,  the Year 1 homework will be in the form of a weekly ‘homework mat’.  Pupils can select 2 activities to complete over the course of the week.  We understand that each child learns differently so the homework mats reflect this and provide an opportunity for the children to consolidate their education in a way that benefits them as individual learners. For Year 2, homework will be sent home on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  Maths homework will be an Abacus game or worksheet. English will be a written activity linked to what we are learning in class. Topic and Science are given on alternate weeks and linked to their learning.
